Day One: Monday, October 24, 2011 – Departure

Depart for Israel.

Day Two: Tuesday, October 25, 2011 – Arrival & Welcome

Arrive at Ben Gurion International Airport. Meet and assistance by our representative with welcome formalities.

Baruch HaBa - welcome!

Check in to your hotel.

Opening Ceremony and Cultural Event with the Jewish Federation of greater Los-Angeles, together with the Tel Aviv Municipality with a cocktail reception. ($250.00 per person)

Welcome Dinner at your hotel.

Overnight: Tel Aviv

Day Three: Wednesday, October 26, 2011 – Along the coastal plain

Breakfast at the hotel.

Visit the Bar-Ilan University, the largest and fastest growing university in Israel, with a student population of approximately 33,917 at the main campus in Ramat Gan, and at the four regional colleges operating under its auspices – in the Jordan Valley, in Safed, in the western Galilee and in Ashkelon.

The university regards the sacred principles of Judaism as the manifestation of the Jewish people's uniqueness, in accordance with the principles defined upon its establishment.

Visit "Better Place" for a look into the future of Israeli transportation. Learn about the development of green transportation infrastructure based on electric cars as an alternative to current fossil fuel technology.

Back to your Tel Aviv hotel for free time to freshen up.

Day Four: Thursday, October 27, 2011 – Jerusalem- Then & Now

Breakfast at the hotel.

Check out of the hotel and depart Tel Aviv.

Visit the Ariel University Center of Samaria, the largest of its kind and one of the fastest-growing academic institutions in the country, with 8,500 students, representing the full spectrum of Israeli society: Jew & Arab, secular & observant, new immigrant & veteran Israeli. Meet with the Dean of Students.

Lunch in Ariel.

Enter the Old City to explore the Jewish Quarter to discover the layers of history beneath what you see today. Possible sites to visit are the Herodian Mansions (basements of 2,000 years ago), Broad Wall (defense against the Assyrians).

At the Davidson Museum layers are peeled away from the area of the Southern Wall of the Temple Mount to reveal Early Muslim, Byzantine and Second Temple Period structures. Stand in the area where Jews mingled before going up to the Temple to offer sacrifice

Enjoy a special welcome to Jerusalem as a community saying the traditional Shehecheyanu blessing joined together by the Mayor of Jerusalem, Nir Barkat

Check in to your hotel to freshen up.

Check out one of Jerusalem's neighborhoods or the Mamilla Shopping Arcade for dinner on your own.

Day Five: Friday, October 28, 2011 – Heavenly & Earthly Jerusalem

Breakfast at the hotel.

Ethiopian Absorption Center, The Mevasseret Zion absorption center is located in the Jerusalem hills in the town of Mevasseret Zion. In May 1999, the center was designated specifically for Ethiopian olim (immigrants).

Drive to Hadasa Hospital to view the extraordinary Chagall Windows, continue to visit the hustling and bustling Machane Yehuda, Jerusalem's outdoor market, to sample some of the best food in town for lunch on your own. Breathe in the smells of the fresh baked challahs and rugelach and watch everyone shop as they prepare for Shabbat. The rest of the afternoon will be at leisure. As Shabbat begins, you may choose to return to the Western Wall and watch everyone in their Shabbat finest as the Yeshiva students dance their way to the Kotel.

Return to the hotel for free time to freshen up and prepare for Shabbat.

Shabbat dinner at the hotel with lone soldiers (who have immigrated to Israel without their families) and with students who are spending a year studying and volunteering in Israel with the NATIV program.

Overnight: Jerusalem

Day Six: Saturday, October 29, 2011 – Shabbat in Jerusalem

Breakfast at the hotel.

Optional Shabbat morning services.

Optional tours:

• Visit to the newly renovated Israel museum, the largest museum in Israel, to see the Dead Sea Scrolls and the model of the Second Temple followed by free time to explore some of the many new exhibitions.

OR

• seat and relax for coffee in one of the various coffee shops.

OR

• "Secrets of the Jerusalem Neighborhoods" Walk through the streets of Jerusalem, led by the poetry of Agnon and Amichai.

Shabbat lunch provided at hotel.

Check out one of Jerusalem's neighborhoods or the Ben Yehuda pedestrian mall for dinner on your own.

Tower of David Museum – Night Spectacular, the walls of the Citadel serve as a stage for a night time show which is a celebration of sight and sound.

After seeing what's on the surface it's time to dig deeper and descend through the many layers of Jerusalem's past all the way back to the time of the Temple through the Western Wall Tunnels. Inside, a most interesting model shows the different dwelling periods and history of the inhabitants of Jerusalem. Stand on the site believed to be the nearest spot to the "Holy of Holies".

Day Seven: Sunday, October 30, 2011 – The Pioneering Spirit of the Negev

Breakfast at the hotel.

Depart for the south.

Visit the Ben Gurion University, a major center for teaching and research, with campuses in Beer-Sheva, Eilat and Sde Boker. The university plays a key role in promoting industry, agriculture and education in the Negev by anticipating exciting challenges in innovative fields of research. Ben Gurion University hopes to bring new opportunities to Beer-Sheva and the Negev while continuing its pursuit of academic excellence and expanding its contribution to the community. Meet with the President or Dean of Students and hear about how your "Magbit" donations make a difference!

Visit air force base Museum at Hatzerim in the center of the country for a tour of the base and dialogue with soldiers Briefing by airforce pilot.

At Sde Boker is the grave of David Ben Gurion. While overlooking the wilderness of Nachal Zin we can remember Ben Gurion's comment that "Israel has created a new image of the Jew in the world – the image of a working and an intellectual people, of a people that can fight with heroism"

Merage Foundation - The Ayalim Association was founded in 2002 by a group of young army veterans to promote the establishment of student villages and entrepreneurship in the Negev and the Galilee, as groundwork for permanent settlement and social activism. Ayalim seeks to channel young peoples' motivation and energy towards social action projects and Zionist achievements.

Afternoon and evening Mega event at Ashalim:

A BBQ dinner, kumsitz, folk dancing and drummers circle workshops

Late return to Jerusalem

Day Eight: Monday, October 31, 2011- The complexity called Jerusalem

Breakfast at the hotel.

Seam line Tour - geographical seam line and the still-relevant cultural seam line between east and west Jerusalem. The reunification of Jerusalem in 1967 prompted the government to create a "security belt" of civilian neighborhoods. Have a "hilltop tour" of Jerusalem and view some of these neighborhoods, Gilo, Armon Hanatziv and Har Homa which overlook Arab neighborhoods, where Jews and Arabs reside side by side on the city's seam line. We will have a multi-dimensional overview of current issues concerning Jerusalem today.

Lunch included.

Free time for last minute shopping, strolling through the streets of Jerusalem or just relaxing.

Depart to Israel Convention Center (Binyanai Ha'uma) for Farewell Dinner Mega Event.

Closing speeches with dignitaries, (pending confirmation) followed by dinner with theme of Machane Yehuda Market

Day Nine: Tuesday, November 1, 2011 – Along the Jordan Rift Valley

Breakfast at the hotel.

Check out of your hotel.

Depart Jerusalem.

Drive via the Jordan Rift Valley passing Jericho the world's oldest city.

To your right lays the Kingdom of Jordan. What are the differences you can see between both sides of the Jordan Valley?

Enter the "Valley of Springs" rich with natural springs which help agriculture prosper year round.

Arrive Gan Hashlosha, (Sachne) where you will have an opportunity to enjoy in the water springs located at the Foots of the Gilboa Mountain, the famous mountain on which King Saul was killed in the battle against the philistines.

Drive to Kibbutz Gesher, The Naharayim Experience

The Naharayim power plant was built on the eastern side of the Jordan River and began functioning in 1932. It was, however, destroyed at the outset of Israel's Independence War, on May 14, 1948 and ceased to function. In order to demonstrate how this power plant once produced electricity, a special model was created with the cooperation of Kibbutz Gesher and the Israel Electric Company. The light and sound show presentation gives the visitor the feeling of an authentic reproduction of the power plant that once was. The visitor's walkway takes one through a system of dams and bridges complete with a water tower and a turbine room, all the while hearing the sound of running water accompanied with flashes of light and color.

Drive through Tiberius located on the Sea of Galilee.

Head north to the Upper Galilee.

Check in and dinner at Hotel.

Day Ten: Wednesday, November 2, 2011 – Natural Beauty

Breakfast at Hotel.

Visit the Tel Hai College, with over 4,000 students enrolled in its academic degree and extended education programs. Walk through Tel Dan nature reserve, one of the most important archeological sites, where the Israelite tribe of Dan settled after.

Lunch on your own.

Visit the award winning Galil Mountain Winery for wine tasting. Established as a joint venture headed by the world-renowned Golan Heights Winery in 2000, Galil Mountain Winery preserves the delicate balance between tradition and technology, offering an inspired selection of award-winning wines that remains true to its roots.

Continue to the Golan Heights. Stop at strategic observation points over the city of Kuneitra, and the Syrian territory. Hear about the political and strategic complexity and importance of the Golan Heights.

visit Oz 77, which is the most important memorial on the Golan Heights for the 1973 Yom Kippur War.

Return to the Hotel. Dinner at Hotel.

Possible- Special night visit to Nimrod Fortress. Walk through the torchlight lit imposing guard towers and cisterns to the dungeon, built as a fortress within the fortress. Discover the fortress' secret passageway, made of giant stones, which exits through a doorway well-concealed from the outside. (supplementary cost)

Overnight: Upper Galilee

Day Eleven: Thursday, November 3, 2011 – Spirituality; Then and Now

Breakfast at the Hotel and Check out.

drive to the city of Safed, one of the Four Holy Cities to Judaism, the city of Kabala. Stroll through the old streets and visit the galleries of some of the most notable Israeli artists. Tour the old synagogues where Jewish mysticism is still part of daily life.

Lunch on your own.

Drive to Mt. Meron was, until Israel conquered the Golan Heights in the 1967 war, the highest mountain in Israel. There are several sites on Mt. Meron that visitors come to see. The graves of famous rabbis, Meron is famous, however, as the gravesite of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai.

Rabbi Shimon was a Midrashic (Jewish commentary) rabbi of the third century C.E. He is frequently quoted in the Talmud (commentaries of Jewish Law) as a revered expert who was highly regarded by the scholars of the day.

Drive to the ancient city of Caesarea, built by Herod the Great and once the seat of Roman rule. View the excavated Roman Theater, with its acoustic and theatrical sound, which was used for many performances throughout the centuries.

Dinner en route at local restaurant. – transfer to Ben-Gurion airport for departure

For the Eilat Extension: depart to Sde Dov Airport for your domestic flight to Eilat.

Depart on domestic flight to Eilat.

Upon arrive in Eilat transfer to your hotel and check in.

Evening and dinner on your own, possibly at one of the many restaurants located along the promenade.

Overnight: Eilat

Day Twelve: Friday, November 4, 2011 – Day tour to Petra

Breakfast at the hotel.

Pick up from the hotel and depart to the Arava border.

Cross over into Jordan. Assistance will be provided to cross the border in a timely manner.

Drive through Wadi Rum where Lawrence of Arabia was based during the Arab revolt, and where the famous movie was filmed.

Continue to the Lost City of Petra.

Enter Petra and walk through the Siq Canyon. Pass by the 'Silica Quarries', The Jinn Blocks and the first large site the 'Obelisk Tomb' and discover the secrets of the ancient city.

Lunch at a local restaurant in Wadi Mussa. (Included)

Depart Petra and head back to the border crossing point.

Scenic drive through the city of Aqaba with a brief stop at the colorful Arabian market.

Return to the Arava border and cross back into Israel.

Transfer to your hotel.

Dinner on your own.

Overnight: Eilat

Day Thirteen: Saturday, November 5, 2011 – Free day in Eilat

Breakfast at the hotel.

Day at leisure on your own to possibly enjoy the beach, the Underwater Observatory, the Dolphin reef or various water sport activities and exciting attractions that Eilat has to offer.

Lunch on your own.

Check out of the hotel and depart to the Eilat domestic airport.

Check in for domestic return flight to Tel Aviv.

Depart to Tel Aviv.

Arrive at Sde Dov Domestic Airport in Tel Aviv and transfer to dinner.

Farewell dinner at a local restaurant.

Continue to Ben-Gurion airport for your international flight.

Overnight: Flight back to the US
